Softball Recap: Saugus Beats Chaminade for Their Third Straight Victory

Saugus put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They had just enough and edged out the Chaminade Eagles 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Centurions have posted since April 13, 2024.

Taliya Mata spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Jordan Shepherd was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Saugus' record is now 3-0. As for Chaminade, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Saugus will take on Chino Hills in a tournament on Thursday. As for Chaminade, they are taking a road trip to challenge El Camino Real at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
