Volleyball Recap: Shepard Comes Up Short

Shepard entered their contest against Chicago Christian on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Astros took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Astros were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

While Shepard was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by exactly two points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 26-24.

Shepard's defeat dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Chicago Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-9.

Shepard and Chicago Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Astros (ranked 182nd) will meet Reavis (ranked 435th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Chicago Christian will challenge Richards at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (91 vs. 349).
