Softball Recap: Oasis Academy Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four matchups, Oasis Academy finally came back down to earth on Friday. They lost 9-0 to the Battle Mountain Longhorns. The loss continues a trend for the Bighorns in their meetings with the Longhorns: they've now lost three in a row.

Kirsten Detomasi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Oasis Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylynn Maynez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Oasis Academy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-4. As for Battle Mountain, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Oasis Academy beat Battle Mountain by a score of 14-4 on Saturday.
