For the first time this season, Veritas Academy will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Hill Country Christian School of Austin Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Veritas Academy took a loss when they played away from home back in February, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed back in March. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Valor South Austin a 20-0 shutout. Veritas Academy's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Elsa B made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. B was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Becka Leyendecker was excellent, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Veritas Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hill Country Christian School of Austin came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Rangers as they made off with a 20-5 win. Considering the Knights have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Hill Country Christian School of Austin let Saylor Singleton and MC Gilliam run wild. Singleton went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Gilliam got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Gilliam has posted since back in February of 2024. Addison Stanley was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Veritas Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Hill Country Christian School of Austin, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Everything went Veritas Academy's way against Hill Country Christian School of Austin in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Veritas Academy made off with a 14-4 victory.
