Soccer Recap: Rocky River Takes a Loss

The Rocky River Pirates came up short against the Avon Lake Shoremen on Monday, falling 6-1. Both teams had to tread carefully at times as the refs weren't afraid to hand out yellow cards: Teddy Hopkins was handed one for Rocky River, while Avon Lake got theirs courtesy of Alex Bellenir.

Rocky River's goal came courtesy of Eric Gorius, which was the first he's scored this season.

Rocky River now has a losing record of 0-1-1. As for Avon Lake, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky River will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against Orange at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Avon Lake, they will host Padua Franciscan at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
