Basketball Game Preview: Burns Broncs vs. Pine Bluffs Hornets

The Burns Broncs will square off against the Pine Bluffs Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Burns has struggled recently with 14 defeats in a row, while Pine Bluffs will arrive with four straight wins.

Burns is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Douglas on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Burns was dealt an 86-14 loss at the hands of Douglas. The contest marked the Broncs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Pine Bluffs faced Lingle-Fort Laramie in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Pine Bluffs strolled past Lingle-Fort Laramie with points to spare, taking the game 60-45.

Pine Bluffs has also been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Burns, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.

Burns came up short against Pine Bluffs in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 45-38. Can Burns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
