Baseball Game Preview: Martensdale-St. Mary's Blue Devils vs. Nodaway Valley Wolverines

Martensdale-St. Mary is 7-2 against Nodaway Valley since June of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Blue Devils will host the Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. Martensdale-St. Mary's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Nodaway Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Martensdale-St. Mary's lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Woodbury Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's match. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Wildcats on Saturday. Considering the Blue Devils have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Nodaway Valley can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They skirted past Wayne 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since June 11th.

Martensdale-St. Mary's is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Nodaway Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-12.
