Volleyball Game Preview: Lowell Catholic Ftng Crusaders vs. Greater Lowell Tech Gryphons

Lowell Catholic is 1-8 against Greater Lowell Tech since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Ftng Crusaders will head out to take on the Gryphons at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lowell Catholic comes in on five and Greater Lowell Tech on eight.

On Wednesday, Lowell Catholic narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Dracut 3-2.

Lowell Catholic took Dracut into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 15-13.

Meanwhile, Greater Lowell Tech earned a 3-1 win over Lawrence on Tuesday.

Greater Lowell Tech had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-23, 25-12, 25-20.

Greater Lowell Tech found their leader in freshman Vathanak Sokun, who had 11 digs and one assist.

Lowell Catholic now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Greater Lowell Tech, their record now sits at 12-3.

Lowell Catholic came up short against Greater Lowell Tech in their previous matchup back in April, falling 3-1. Can the Ftng Crusaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
