Softball Preview: Anderson County Bearcats vs. Collins Titans

The Anderson County Bearcats will take on the Collins Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Collins took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Anderson County, who comes in off a win.

Anderson County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Spencer County on Wednesday as they made off with a 22-2 victory. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Molly Wooldridge was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and three doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith McGregor, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.

Anderson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spencer County only posted an OBP of .154.

Collins couldn't beat Shelby County on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Titans fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Titans have suffered against the Rockets since April 9, 2019.

Breanna Morris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered nine runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Brooke Peterman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Bermudez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
