Baseball Recap: Warren County Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Warren County came out on top against Manassas Park on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars a 12-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 back in April.

The team relied heavily on Franny Shaffer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. He has become a key player for Warren County: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gavin Dodson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Warren County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Warren County's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for Manassas Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Warren County will face off against James Wood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Manassas Park, they will take on Park View at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
