Ravenna is 10-0 against Arcadia/Loup City since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Ravenna Bluejays will host the Arcadia/Loup City Rebels at 6:00 p.m. Ravenna is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
On Tuesday, Ravenna was beaten by Sutton 57-28. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Mustangs are ranked 73rd).
Despite the loss, Ravenna had strong showings from Kellie Huryta, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds, and Breckyn Wick, who posted nine points and five boards. That was a full 42.9% of Ravenna's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Arcadia/Loup City on Tuesday. Everything went their way against South Loup as Arcadia/Loup City made off with a 37-17 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rebels.
Ravenna better keep an eye on Eva Jaixen. She was instrumental in Arcadia/Loup City's win, going 8 of 16 en route to 18 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Jaixen has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Augustyn, who earned four points.
Ravenna's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Arcadia/Loup City, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Ravenna has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23 boards per game. However, it's not like Arcadia/Loup City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
