Softball Game Preview: Stockdale Mustangs vs. Liberty Patriots

For the second straight game, Stockdale will face off against Liberty. The Mustangs will head out to challenge the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Stockdale's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Liberty's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Stockdale's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Liberty hitters got past them. The Mustangs took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots on Wednesday. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Nevaeh Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and eight unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Melanie Haworth was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Aamya Harrison was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Liberty's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 10-12. As for Stockdale, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.
