Basketball Recap: Leyden Takes a Loss

Leyden suffered their biggest loss since February 12, 2024 on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Downers Grove North Trojans, falling 42-10. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Trojans are ranked 67th).

Downers Grove North found their leader in sophomore Campbell Thulin, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Urja Shah, who posted four points.

Leyden's defeat dropped their record down to 21-10. As for Downers Grove North, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.

Coming up, Leyden will square off against Highland Park at 7:30 p.m. on February 18th. As for Downers Grove North, they will take on Neuqua Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
