Coconino is 9-1 against Lee Williams since March of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Coconino will take on Lee Williams at 5:00 p.m. Coconino is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
Lee Williams' hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Coconino hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Coconino never let Mohave get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Monday. Considering the Panthers have won 11 matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaitlyn Tso made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cassidey Castillo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Danica Kern was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Coconino hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 11 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lee Williams hadn't done well against Mingus recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Lee Williams was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Mingus. The Volunteers haven't had any issues with the Marauders recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Like Coconino, Lee Williams also got a great game from a two-way player: Aivree Austin. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Austin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Sami Marshall was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Alana Garibaldi, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.
Coconino pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lee Williams, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-9.
Lee Williams' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Coconino has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lee Williams, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 strikeouts. Will Coconino keep running through batters, or will Lee Williams buck the trend?
