Football Recap: Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton Piles Up the Points Against Akron

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton had no problem doing just that on Friday. They really took it to the Akron Tigers for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-12 victory. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than 40 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brayden Gibbs was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 40 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 207 yards and two TDs while completing 84.6% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (164.3). Thandon Bensink was another key player, rushing for 106 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Another reason for the win was Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Lane Scarpine was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton's record is now 8-1. As for Akron, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

As of now, neither Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
