Apex is 0-6 against Garner since April of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Cougars will face off against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Apex is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over East Chapel Hill. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
Audrey Mulauski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Leah Kendall, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. She has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren McMahon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Laney typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Garner proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Buccaneers 14-2. Garner's victory was all the more impressive since the Buccaneers were averaging only 2.95 runs allowed on the season.
Gabriella Czuczuk made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Czuczuk was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Gaby Mizelle was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Bailey Radford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Garner lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Garner has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Apex, their record now sits at 13-9.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Apex hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Garner struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Apex suffered a grim 17-6 defeat to Garner in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
