Volleyball Game Preview: North Kingstown Skippers vs. Classical Purple

North Kingstown is a perfect 6-0 against Classical since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Skippers are taking a road trip to face off against the Purple at 6:00 p.m. North Kingstown will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

On Monday, North Kingstown got the win against Bishop Hendricken by a conclusive 3-0.

While North Kingstown won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-14, 25-22.

North Kingstown relied on the efforts of Stephen Dufour, who had 13 digs and one assist, and Evan Shea, who had 15 assists and four digs. Shea is crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Classical came up short against La Salle Academy on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Purple in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost seven in a row.

Classical started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-16.

Having lost for the first time this season, Classical fell to 2-1. As for North Kingstown, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Everything went North Kingstown's way against Classical in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as North Kingstown made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Skippers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
