Basketball Recap: Lingle-Fort Laramie Wins Going Away Against Mitchell

Lingle-Fort Laramie had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Mitchell Tigers with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 51-33. For the Doggers, this counts as revenge for the 65-22 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2016.

Jordynn Speckner went supernova for Lingle-Fort Laramie, putting up eight points along with eight steals and six boards. Speckner has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyla Wunder, who went 6 of 13 en route to 14 points and seven steals.

Mitchell's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Reese Sauer, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points and seven rebounds, and Elly Paetow, who posted five points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Paetow a new career-high in rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mitchell fell to 2-1.

Coincidentally, Lingle-Fort Laramie and Mitchell will both be playing Wheatland the next time they take the court. Lingle-Fort Laramie will head out to face Wheatland at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, while Mitchell will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
