Baseball Recap: Cannelton Drops Season-High Score on Tell City

Cannelton had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-6 to make it nine. They lost 26-4 to the Tell City Marksmen. On the bright side, the four- run performance marked the Bulldogs' highest-scoring matchup to date.

As for Tell City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-5. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

For Tell City's part, Landon Sandage was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBI. Sandage is becoming a predictor of the Marksmen's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Drew Greulich also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cannelton will take on Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tell City, they will head out to challenge Hancock County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Marksmen are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
