South Decatur has gone 9-1 against Edinburgh recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cougars will host the Lancers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses dating back to last season for South Decatur and 13 for Edinburgh dating back to last season.

South Decatur lost 16-1 to Greensburg on Tuesday.

Corey Nugent put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh came up short against Indy Genesis HomeSchool on Tuesday, falling 18-1.

Edinburgh also got a good showing from Connor Scott, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Edinburgh saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Myers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. That hit marked the first that Myers got this season.

Edinburgh's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for South Decatur, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

South Decatur's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Edinburgh, though, as they've been averaging only 0.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will South Decatur continue to outrun the ball?

South Decatur beat Edinburgh 4-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
