Baseball Recap: City View Takes a Loss

If City View was feeling good fresh off their 19-4 takedown of Legacy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. City View fell just short of the Windthorst Trojans by a score of 7-5 on Friday.

Marcus Campos was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Colton Barnett was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

City View has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. The victory (which was Windthorst's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

Looking ahead, City View is taking a road trip to square off against Holliday at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Holliday has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Windthorst, they will be playing at home against Olney at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
