Softball Recap: West Comes Up Short

West's last matchup with Emporia could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Chargers lost 12-6 to the Spartans. The Chargers just can't catch a break and have now endured 13 defeats in a row.

Isabelle Kutina stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 1-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Callie Jones was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

West's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Emporia, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-15 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: West beat Emporia by a score of 17-0 later that day.
