Baseball Recap: Perry Victorious

Perry won the last time they faced Warsaw and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Yellowjackets walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Yellowjackets.

Parker McGarvey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Beau Solcum was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Perry is 3-1 when Solcum posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maximus Siewert, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The win got Perry back to even at 5-5. As for Warsaw, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Perry will welcome Wayland-Cohocton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Warsaw, they will be playing at home against Keshequa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
