Football Game Preview: Liberty Redhawks vs. Rondout Valley Ganders

The Liberty Redhawks will head out to face off against the Rondout Valley Ganders at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Liberty's offense hasn't had much luck over their past four contests, but Saturday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Liberty is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Port Jervis on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Redhawks took a blow against the Raiders, falling 62-0. While losing is never fun, the Redhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 524th, while the Raiders are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, after soaring to 34 points the game before, Rondout Valley was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell 19-8 to New Paltz. The Ganders haven't had much luck with the Huguenots recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Rondout Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Things could have been worse for Liberty, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 18-0 loss to Rondout Valley in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can the Redhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
