The Geneva Knights will face off against the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Geneva has three straight victories, Lake Highland Prep has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Geneva's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Master's Academy as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Knights have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Dallas Esperas made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Chloe Incinelli was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Molly Storms was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Geneva was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Master's Academy only posted a batting average of .050.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Lake Highland Prep's offense. They lost 15-0 to Trinity Prep on Thursday.
Geneva's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Lake Highland Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Geneva hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .382. However, it's not like Lake Highland Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Geneva took their victory against Lake Highland Prep in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 20-0 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
