Basketball Recap: Plainfield South's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Plainfield South has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Maine West Warriors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Warriors are ranked 397th).

Plainfield South's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for Maine West, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Plainfield South will be taking part in a tournament against Morton at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Maine West, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Elk Grove at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
