Baseball Recap: Desert Vista Has No Trouble Against Sunnyslope

Desert Vista won the last time they faced Sunnyslope and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Thunder blew past the Vikings 12-1. Considering the Thunder have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cole Gomez spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

At the plate, Alex McKee was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sammy Skinner, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Desert Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sunnyslope only posted an OBP of .300.

The win made it two in a row for Desert Vista and bumps their season record up to 14-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Sunnyslope, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Vista will venture away from home to face off against Hamilton at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Sunnyslope, they will head out to take on Corona del Sol at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Aztecs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
