Basketball Recap: Salt Lake Academy Skates Past St. Joseph with Ease

The third road game was the charm for Salt Lake Academy, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They really took it to the St. Joseph Jayhawks for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-26 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-13.

Salt Lake Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Johnson led the charge by shooting 60% from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and three steals. Those 60% three-point shooting accuracy gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aaron Zamora, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight assists and six boards.

Salt Lake Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory got Salt Lake Academy back to even at 2-2. As for St. Joseph, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Salt Lake Academy will venture away from home to square off against Rockwell at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Griffins' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for St. Joseph, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Freedom Prep Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
