Baseball Recap: Progreso Extends Winning Streak to Six

Progreso came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Lasara Lions with a sharp 14-1 victory. Considering the Red Ants have won five games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Abel Cavazos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Cavazos was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Hernandez, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those hits were his first of the season. Julio Resendez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-3.

Progreso was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Progreso's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
