Softball Game Preview: Lassen Grizzlies vs. Gridley Bulldogs

The Lassen Grizzlies will square off against the Gridley Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lassen comes in on four and Gridley on three.

Lassen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over West Valley.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Gridley and Orland, and Gridley kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 8-4 on Tuesday.

Kaydenze Pruitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chevie Crislip was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Delanie Cloyd, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gridley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 16-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Gridley pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Lassen, their victory bumped their record up to 19-9.
