Basketball Recap: Roman Golub's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Middlesex over Brookfield

The West Middlesex Big Reds lost 68-47 to the Brookfield Warriors on Saturday. The Big Reds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Middlesex's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Roman Golub, who went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points. Golub has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. John Partridge was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Brookfield was led to victory by Blake Hammond and Cody Davidson. Hammond went 9 for 17 on his way to 21 points and five steals, while Davidson went 7 of 10 en route to 19 points. The dominant performance gave Davidson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagen Barbe, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points.

West Middlesex's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Brookfield, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

West Middlesex wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-25 loss against Lakeview on the 7th. Brookfield has also already played their next contest, a 58-47 defeat against Southeast on the 6th.
