Baseball Recap: Apollo Falls Short Against Ranked Castle

Apollo is ranked highly in their home state and on Wednesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Castle. The Eagles took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Apollo got a good showing from Carter Kimmel, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Kimmel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ryleigh Logan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Apollo's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Castle, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apollo will head out to square off against Muhlenberg County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Castle, they will square off against Evansville Harrison at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
