Recap: Canterbury Crusaders vs. Northside Christian Mustangs
The Canterbury Crusaders came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 42-33 victory over Northside Christian. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Canterbury also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2020.
Zy'nasia Alhuzaifi was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was MacKenzie Tucker, who scored 13 points.
Despite the loss, Northside Christian saw an underclassman step up: Sofia Rodriguez scored 15 points. Rodriguez continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Sydney White was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Canterbury's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. As for Northside Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canterbury will take on Cambridge Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northside Christian, they will be playing at home against Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
