Baseball Recap: Brea Olinda Has No Trouble Against Sonora

Brea Olinda barely beat Sonora the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Raiders on Saturday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Nicholas Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nick Davis, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Gonzales, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Brea Olinda is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Sonora, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-6 record.
