Basketball Recap: Brookside Comes Up Short

Brookside easily dispatched Firelands last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Brookside Cardinals fell just short of the Berea-Midpark Titans by a score of 94-91 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Titans are ranked 159th).

Berea-Midpark's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan (Diggy) Maddox, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave Maddox a new career-high in rebounds. Tyson Clay was another key player, putting up 27 points and eight assists.

Brookside's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Berea-Midpark, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Brookside will venture away from home to challenge Black River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Brookside's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 games. As for Berea-Midpark, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Olmsted Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Olmsted Falls comes in on three and Berea-Midpark on five.
