Basketball Recap: Faith Vencill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Edgewood over Madison

Edgewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 61-52 to the Madison Blue Streaks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Streaks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-49 back in January.

Edgewood lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Faith Vencill, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Carly Kray was another key player, going 6-for-12 to rack up 17 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Edgewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive matches.

Edgewood's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Madison, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Edgewood nor Madison have any future games scheduled.
