Basketball Recap: Uvalde Takes a Loss

Uvalde lost against Devine back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) fell to the Devine Warhorses 62-58.

Devine was led to victory by Mason Beaver and Karson Ray. Beaver went 9 for 20 to rack up 24 points and five steals, while Ray went 5 of 8 on his way to 17 points and seven boards. Beaver is becoming a predictor of Devine's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is undefeated (and 12-17 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Beaver, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Uvalde has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season. As for Devine, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-17.

Uvalde wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 89-25 defeat against Somerset on the 11th. As for Devine, they have also already played their next game, a 65-48 loss against Carrizo Springs on the 11th.
