Baseball Game Preview: Umatilla Bulldogs vs. Hernando Leopards

For the second straight game, Umatilla will face off against Hernando. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Umatilla's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Hernando's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Umatilla heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Monday. They lost 11-1 to Hernando. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bulldogs, who until this contest were averaging four runs allowed.

For Hernando's part, Cadyn Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eric O'Dell, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kaine Ellis was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

The win was the third in a row for Hernando, bringing their record up to 19-14. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Umatilla, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-15.
