Football Recap: Gladstone Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Gladstone, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 34-22 win over the Houghton Gremlins on Friday. The Braves pushed the score to 34-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Gremlins cut but never quite recovered from.

Vinny Rebholz threw for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Aiden Burie was his top target, picking up 42 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Owen Gereau rushed for 183 yards and one TD.

When it comes to explaining why Houghton lost, don't look at Brayden Goudge. Despite the final result, he rushed for 116 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Goudge got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 68 yards.

Gladstone is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points over those games. As for Houghton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Gladstone will square off against Calumet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Copper Kings' defense has only allowed 9.4 points per game this season, so the Braves' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Houghton, they will welcome Negaunee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
