Soccer Game Preview: Brennan vs. Stevens

The Brennan Bears will face off against the Stevens Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brennan has three straight wins, Stevens has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Last Friday, Brennan was able to grind out a solid victory over Holmes, taking the game 3-1. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Huskies are ranked 712th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Joshua Soto and Christian Banda scored all three of Brennan's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 15 goals.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Stevens took on Harlan on Friday. Stevens fell 3-1 to Harlan.

Brennan pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Stevens, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Brennan took their victory against Stevens when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 5-1. Will Brennan repeat their success, or does Stevens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
