Baseball Game Preview: Cascade Cougars vs. Stayton Eagles

For the second straight game, Cascade will face off against Stayton. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Cascade will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Stayton, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cougars blew past the Eagles 9-3 on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Slade Hudson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cascade let Jacob Born and Blake Jackson run wild. Born went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, while Jackson went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Cascade is 5-1 when Born posts two or more runs, but 4-16 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hans Kamm, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Cascade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stayton only posted an OBP of .379.

Stayton's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-4. As for Cascade, their win bumped their record up to 9-17.
