Palo Duro extended their winning streak to seven on Thursday, bumping them up to 7-1. They took their game with ease, bagging a 55-25 win over the Plainview Bulldogs. The Dons' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Julian Reese II was his usual excellent self, throwing for 235 yards and four TDs on only 18 passes, while also rushing for 83 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Raymond Johnson was another key player, rushing for 108 yards on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Palo Duro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Palo Duro's defense and their five sacks. Plainview's QB won't forget Kyron Brown anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Zachary Linton was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 14 total tackles (5.0 for loss).

As for Plainview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 499th, while Palo Duro is ranked 96th).

Plainview lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Seth Mayberry, who threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns. He has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Plainview's leading receiver Jordan Porter was Mayberry's top target yet again, picking up 129 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Palo Duro will challenge rival Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. Meanwhile, Plainview is set to take on their familiar foe Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 895 yards in their previous games.
