Baseball Recap: Portola's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

While Portola's victory against University wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Portola Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the University Trojans on Wednesday, sneaking past 5-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Keyan Park was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Cooper Marinelli was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Yoshi Tsuge was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Portola's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for University, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Portola will have a chance to go back-to-back against University: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
