A Season-Best Effort from Andre Calderon Leads Bakersfield Christian over Highland

Andre Calderon produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Bakersfield Christian to the win on Friday. Calderon picked up 122 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 66 yards.

This season, Calderon has caught 12 touchdowns while averaging 97.9 receiving yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had six receiving touchdowns.

Mather must have Highland's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. When Mather last faced the Scots back in October of 2023, he threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.

Independence found a leader in Jakhai Ervin as the squad took down Ridgeview on Thursday. Ervin was unstoppable, rushing for 75 yards on only ten carries, while also picking up 38 receiving yards.

Independence now has a winning record of 4-3. Ervin and Independence will square off against Highland at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Ridgeview had to settle for second on Thursday, but Diego Herrera sure wasn't going down easily. Herrera turned in nothing short of a gem, rushing for 25 yards.

Ridgeview is on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7. Herrera and Ridgeview will welcome Stockdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
