Softball Recap: Carrington Comes Up Short

If Carrington was riding high fresh off their 20-11 takedown of Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals fell 9-4 to the Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg Patriots on Tuesday. The Cardinals have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Maara Kutz was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Neis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Carrington's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Carrington is set to take on their familiar foe Langdon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg will square off against rival Thompson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
