Basketball Recap: Immanuel Christian Warriors vs. Horizon Scorpions

Immanuel Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Horizon Scorpions on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Despite the loss, Immanuel Christian still got an impressive performance from T'Mara Simon, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. Simon is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season.

Horizon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nima Ruiz out in front who posted six points in addition to ten boards and six steals. That's the most rebounds Ruiz has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Roxanne Solis, who earned 11 points and seven boards.

Horizon has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Immanuel Christian will be playing at home against Anthony on Tuesday. As for Horizon, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 36-22 win against Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy on the 13th.
