Softball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pipestone Arrows. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Arrows apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Alissa Moen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marshall saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Naya Grahn, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Grahn has brought in this season.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Pipestone, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Marshall will be playing at home against Luverne at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pipestone, they will head out on the road to challenge Windom at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
