Football Game Preview: Wray Eagles vs. Rye Thunderbolts

Two dominant backs in Austin Collins and Jackson Bjorum are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wray Eagles will square off against the Rye Thunderbolts at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rye took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wray, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Wray blew past Wiggins, posting a 42-2 victory. Considering the Eagles have won five contests by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Wray's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Tena, who rushed for 58 yards and two scores on only five carries.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Rye's offense. They were dealt a 27-0 defeat at the hands of Colorado Springs Christian last Friday. The Thunderbolts have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Wray pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.3 points over those games. As for Rye, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Wray has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rye struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 173.7 rushing yards.
