Baseball Game Preview: Stratford Knights vs. Herndon Hornets

The Stratford Knights will take on the Herndon Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Stratford sitting on 11 straight wins and Herndon on four.

On Monday, Stratford earned a 9-6 victory over Loudoun Valley.

Stratford got a great performance from Jacob Deacon as he struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Deacon a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Walter Argrett, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jarrett Wagner, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Five must be Herndon's lucky number: they beat Western Branch with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Hornets came out on top against the Bruins by a score of 5-1.

Stratford's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Herndon, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
