Baseball Game Preview: Brunswick Blue Devils vs. Avon Eagles

The Brunswick Blue Devils will take on the Avon Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Brunswick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Brunswick needed a bit of extra time to put away Strongsville. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Mustangs. The game was the first time the Blue Devils have beaten the Mustangs on their field since May 2, 2022.

Ryan Maslyk looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Connor Adams was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Hubbell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Brunswick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .410. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Avon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to Riverside.

Colten Fitch was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Mateus Porter also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Brunswick has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Avon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
